Menards has Formula Shell oil on sale...$1.79 a quart or $21 for a case of 12. They have 5w20, 5w30, 10w30, 10w40. I use high mileage stuff for the KJ but I got a case for the KL. It's very very very similar to the yellow bottle Pennzoil, both are well regarded on Bob is the oil guy.

Yeah it's a solid oil. Really you can't go wrong with Valvoline, Castrol, Pennzoil etc.
I'd have no problems running it 5k or more. Well, the KL probably won't tell me to change it for 6-7k and the LR3 has ran either dino Valvoline or Castrol for 6-7k OCI for 155k and it doesn't burn or leak any oil.
What I've learned from BITOG is that the biggest difference between dino and synthetic is how long you can go between changes. Dino, 4-7k, probably lean towards 4k for a KJ. Synthetic, 10k-20k. Changing synthetic every 3-4k is a waste and actually worse for the engine since the wear films don't ever get fully developed.

I'm still HoosierJeeper there, I don't post much unless they're trashing Jeeps which is something they seem to enjoy. LOL

Bunch of winey, obsessed, overly critical oil fanatics and I always wondered if you asked them what kind of "extra virgin" olive oil they use on their salad it would start a "olive oil war"....LOL They do have some interesting info over there though.
I have used that Shell Formula oil before and no issues with it. That sale price of $1.79 that HJ noted for it is real good.

If it's not a 1994 Crown Vic or a 2001 Toyota Camry it's an excessive, unreliable POS.

Pretty sure they'd have to send it out for a lab analysis before consumption... :happy175:
There is some interesting stuff over there. I'm a member but really only surf for info. Don't think I've ever posted and can't remember my username.

Yeah, that Shell oil on sale is fine. Heck, any major brand oil is fine and they all have the API star symbol with the ratings on the bottles as they were tested and certified by the API.
If I was using dino and there was a menards here I would go get some.
