From Season 3 Star Scott McCord Breaks Down Father-Son Reunion Between Victor & Henry (2025)

From follows a group of strangers who are trapped in a mysterious town that is taken over by murderous creatures every evening. Victor (Scott McCord) has been in the town since he was a little boy, which is apparent from the way he acts. His body may have aged, but he has not aged much mentally and often has tantrums when he does not get his way.

Scott McCord does a wonderful job embodying what is essentially a boy trapped in a man's body. His career has spanned over three decades in theater, film, television, music, radio, and animation. From season 3 releases new episodes on Sundays at 9pm ET/PT on MGM+

S creen Rant interviewed Scott McCord to discuss where his character, Victor, is in From season 3. He talks about how he was able to channel the little boy inside of Victor, as well as what it was like for him to have Victor reunite with his father. He also details why he thinks the town's creatures are so terrifying and what it is like working with them on set.

Victor Is A Key Part Of The Story Being Told In From Seson 3

"It draws a line back to this boy that was left alone in this town for who knows how long after this traumatic event."

Screen Rant: Can you talk about finding Victor and really being able to play a little boy in a grown man's body? It's so impressive.

Scott McCord: Thank you so much. That's a great gift, that character of the enigmatic Victor. That's been a wonderful part of the exploration of this whole thing because so much of who Victor is, is obviously in this story that's being told. It draws a line back to this boy that was left alone in this town for who knows how long after this traumatic event.

There has been a regression since early, early on. Pretty much since the Matthews family has arrived, that John just keeps writing. We keep going further and further, and just when you think it's done, no, we're going to keep going further and further. Of course, some exciting things, even this season, things from his past that come back as well. And yeah, it's been a ride.

Knowing Victor Was Going To Come Face To Face With His Father Was Exciting & Terrifying For Scott McCord

"I was terrified because I think of the magnitude of that moment, of that lifetime that's been lost between these two people, and what that means to Victor."

Screen Rant: How did you feel when you found out Victor's dad was coming back in From season 3?

Scott McCord: It was amazing. I never saw that coming. Then I was, of course, as we were gearing up to meet that when that was dropped, I was terrified because I think of the magnitude of that moment, of that lifetime that's been lost between these two people, and what that means to Victor.

I think that one of the things with Victor that's really starting to manifest this season because of everything that's happened is his guilt of responsibility. Like, did I do all this in some way? Did I do this to him? That's been something that I've been talking about today and was focused on during the season with the arrival of Henry was like, how did I fail you.

Screen Rant: When Victor finds out, he just takes off and runs away. It is a very powerful moment in that episode because it really shows his childlike tendencies.

Scott McCord: Yeah, it's a great scene the way that John wrote it too, because of, certainly who I find it out from, because this is a very important figure who I think I have a trust with. But the way John wrote it, if you look at the scene, there's a series of no's that I say. That's all he wrote was that Victor just says a whole bunch of different no's.

I know when I went in to do that scene, I thought I have to find something different for each of those no's and what they mean to him because I think that it's also the reality of that landing. That's something that Victor, of course, probably would never have thought. It's one thing to say Tabitha's back. Right? That alone for Victor was probably huge. It was just like a double whammy.

I think so much of it is just right there. And I mean, John's brilliant mind and the writing, and then, my homework is just going home and exploring all this, all this core material for him, and what that is, and what that would mean. What are the memories of his father? So there's a lot in working that.

Scott McCord Says From Is About The Characters' Ability To Adapt

"The idea of adapting to the circumstances, so much of the show is and has been about that."

Screen Rant: If you come down to it, Victor really is a survivor. He's survived through so much. Have you learned any survivor skills through playing him?

Scott McCord: I would be the first guy gone if I landed in this town. I'd be the first one. My wife and I always joke about that. She would survive. I think the thing with what Victor did, it's great that you say that survivor thing about him. One thing that I put a lot of thought and work into in the beginning was, and what John says the show's about, is adaptation, right? So the idea of adapting to the circumstances, so much of the show is and has been about that.

It is what, I guess, is an allegory for us and for our lives and everything that we've gone through. The pandemic. How do we adapt to the given circumstances? Victor really is, I've always seen him as he's his own creature of this environment, but he adapted. He adapted in a way that he survived many, if you think about it, he even survived all those years when there were no talismans. So I guess that's what happens when you're left alone in that place as a kid for many years.

The Creatures In Town Are Adapting As Well In From Season 3

"It almost feels like the monsters are evolving in their own way as well."

Screen Rant: The creatures in From are terrifying. What do you think it is about them that really scares viewers? They are methodical and like to mess with the townsfolk for fun.

Scott McCord: I know, and that's all new to us, obviously, as well. I think those are the scariest and creepiest moments for me. One in particular was, is the nurse holding the keys out to Boyd and saying, take these. So that he actually reached forward, like how they're messing with him, you know?

There's an incredible turn that they've taken. I think it's almost like you feel like there's been this evolution of everything, right? There's been all the external elements - food shortage, weather, and the evolution of the characters as they're dealing with this thing. But it almost feels like the monsters are evolving in their own way as well.

I will say this when we shoot with them and the makeup, because our special effects makeup team is amazing. They're just as terrifying when you see them in person in front of you. There's something very real about them when you're around them.

Scott McCord Was Excited To Explore Several New Relationships This Season & How That Would Affect Victor

"That's always the exciting part about this evolution, to get back to that idea, right? Just Victor's father arriving and then meeting, I started to think about how does that change Victor in all these ways?"

Screen Rant: What were you most excited to explore this season? Was it Victor and his father reconnecting?

Scott McCord: Most excited? I would say yes, but I would say as an aggregate part of those, that and Victor's plight in terms of going into the memories. I wanted to see how it changed him. That's always the exciting part about this evolution, to get back to that idea, right? Just Victor's father arriving and then meeting, I started to think about how does that change Victor in all these ways? Physically, all the trauma that he's been holding, and now, how does that change him?

I think that, to me, the exciting and scary parts about the discovery process going along the way. I got to work with Robert Joy, who you've seen, and he's a veteran of the business. He's so amazing and lovely. I couldn't have got a better father out of the deal. So working with him was certainly a highlight.

Working with Avery, of course, too, is really great, as Sarah. The scenes with Sarah. I love that. I was really excited about that relationship, too. In terms of where that goes. That goes a little further, too, so that's exciting.
